Where the real difference is
Both ChatGPT and Claude have excellent models. If your question is "which one writes better", that is not what this comparison answers — and honestly, for most everyday work you will not notice the gap.
The difference is what happens to the output.
In a project-flavoured chat, the context is saved but the work is not. The model writes you a proposal; the proposal is a message. You copy it into a document, and from that moment the document and the conversation drift apart. Two weeks later you want to change the pricing table, and you are back to explaining the whole thing again to a model that cannot see the file you actually sent the client.
